MERBABIES (1938)

I was able to digitally re-assemble all this gorgeous underwater Silly Symphony background art, except for that stubborn cartoon starfish, which was of course a cel overlay. Here's the full pan B/G:

two restored standard frame size B/Gs:

A truly fantastic pan b/g:

Have always liked the Merbabies. The underwater feel is very realistic... quite an achievement for 1938. With Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs under their belt, the animators were well on their way to creating the "golden age".

Merbabies is one of my favorites too even though Disney farmed it out to the Harman-Ising studio.

Thank you so much for posting the backgrounds!! Is it okay if I link to this post from my blog?
